Love Hangover

Only the greatest mind can afford a simple style. I guess Gabrielle was talking about this Bauhaus pavilion in Barcelona, when she said that. After all there's a reason why its designer, Mies van der Rohe, is one of the most quoted people in the world. It was he, the German architect, who came up with the phrase: Less is more.

My world is empty without you...

These pictures were taken in the Parc de la Cituadella in Barcelona. The parc was build for the world-exhibit of  1888. I love the whole 19th century atmosphere. Everything is huge, bombastic and very, very over the top. With all it's fountains and little ponds, it's the perfect park for a perfect summer day. 

Turn up the love

These pictures were taken in the amazing Parc Güell. The park was originally meant to become a small village in Barcelona for factory-workers and other people with small income. Sadly nobody wanted to live in such a "strange and modern" park, so it became just a park. A  place to rest, walk and enjoy the view. This outfit shows some of the basics that I like to wear on a holiday: Long trousers, a light blouse, moccasins showing a little bit of my ankles and of course my favorite, second hand sunglasses...

Get Lucky

As I was recently browsing through my looks on Lookbook I noticed the immense lack of bow-ties. That's rather strange, since I wear them so often, at least once a week. Even on holidays I couldn't leave them at home. This picture's taken in Barcelona where I've been on vacation last week (hence the period of absence last week.)

You can't hurry love

Today was the first real day of summer wheater. I wore two almost completely different outfits. I started of with this warm ensemble. The trousers are by Lanvin and they're made of seersucker. It's a very light material so your legs stay cool all the time. The perfect solution for a that hot day when you can't wear short because of the occasion you're attending. Anyway as soon as I had set a foot outside I knew this would be the first day of the year that I was going to wear shorts. 

Last time I saw him...

My final exams started today. It's all or nothing. I've worked two years up to this moment, but not pressure at all of course...

Anyway I always like to look stylish when I've got a big day. Actually I always like to look stylish, no matter what day it is. I tried something different today by wearing my pocketwatch around my neck.

THE COMPOSER

Best field trip ever: Going to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam. These are the days that I really love my school. But, then the everlasting question: What to wear? Mr Gaultier never asks himself this question. He only wears black, or his famous Breton stripe. If only my life was as easy as that. So today, I went for the easiest option as well: Breton stripes. All. Over.

Cry-Baby

My friends are throwing a theme-party tonight and the assignment was to dress up like a Johnny Depp Character. Which is obviously the most awesome theme ever! I really had a hard time choosing between the dandy-ish Willy Wonka and the 50's greaser "Cry-Baby". Turns out I'm more of a greaser after all...

Endless love

 Nothing feels better than those mornings where you get out of bed late, just look around, and immediately find that one perfect outfit that you've never worn before. Today was that day! 

The happening the 18th birthday

March 27, 2013, an important date in my life, because today I'm turning eighteen. I'm officially an adult now. That means I'll have to start acting very different now. Time for flannel suits, ties to the office and maybe I should start wearing a hat? As I wrote last year my family has a long tradition when it comes to birthday outfits, so here's what I'm wearing on this very special day.
