I've been stuffing my face with literature these past few weeks. My exams are coming up and we'lI be getting tests about some books we've read. Sadly I haven't read them all (yet). So I had a lot of catching up to do. I've come a long way the past days and I'll only have to read two small literary works and I'm done. But while I was at it, I also started reading again in the book of books. I wrote about this book before, my parents gave it to me last Christmas. 

As I was browsing through the book, I came across this funny little box. It's my birthday in a few weeks. So I thought, Like Marie Antoinette used to say, Let them eat cake.

Menswear has always been a mystery. Where the shapes and silhouettes of women change every other week, the image of the perfect man hasn't really changed in decades. Maybe even centuries. Menswear is as conservative as can be. Even I must admit that I'm suffering from what one might call the dandy-flu. But who knows? Tides are changing as we speak. The latest menswear runway shows last month, offered us a whole new perspective for the upcoming autumn winter season 2013/2014...

 Okay so here is a new sort of “obsession” of mine, that I would like to introduce. I am madly in love with Louis Vuitton trunks.

Paris Fashionweek: Louis Vuitton

Het is inmiddels al weer twee weken geleden dat Paris Fashionweek van start ging. Misschien wel dé  belangerijkste modeweek van allemaal. Helaas helaas vertoefde ik heerlijk in het zonnetje in Rome terwijl de looks voor aankomend zomer seizoen geshowd werden. 

In parijs zijn de grootste modehuizen ter wereld gevestigd waardoor deze week al klapper op de vuurpijl wordt gezien van de modemaand. (NewYork, Londen, Milaan en Parijs Fashionweek achter elkaar). Het is echter wel jammer dat er vaak minder ruimte over blijft voor jong talent tijdens de show week in Parijs. Door alle grote merken worden de kleinere opkomende designers een beetje verdrongen.

Qua trends was er weinig nieuws. Het is daarom ook niet erg nodig alle shows uitgebreid te bespreken. Er werd duidelijk overal gebruik gemaakt van lichte pasteltinten en aardekleuren. Ook rozige kleurtjes als perzik en zalm keerde op veel Catwalks terug. 

Het hoogtepunt vond ik persoonlijk wel de show van Louis Vuitton. Hoofd designer van Louis Vuitton is Marc Jacobs. Hij heeft naast zijn eigen label "Marc by Marc Jacobs" de leiding over het franse modehuis. De show vond plaats in een spierwitte zaal. Het cilindervormige doek ging omhoog en toen verscheen er een geweldige ouderwetse carrousel volledig in het wit. De looks bij Louis Vuitton vind ik altijd heel leuk omdat ze allemaal iets van een tas/koffer of brillenkoker bij zich dragen. Dit verwijst terug naar de begin dagen van het merk: De eerst Louis Vuitton (1821) was namelijk koffer bouwer en begon een winkeltje in Parijs. Sindsdien is het merk enorm gegroeid maar staat het nog steeds bekend om zijn tassen en koffers. Hun visie is nogsteeds alles te kunnen maken wat mee op reis kan. Ik zou zeggen: See for yourself.
