This week's look is one featuring my all time favorite actress: Audrey Tautou. She defines beauty in it's pure form. I don't now what it is, it might be her french accent, her eccentric smile or her pure white skin, but I love her

With all the fuss about Brad Pitt, I wanted to pay some attention to Angelina Jolie as well. Two weeks ago I saw "the Changeling" a movie, set in the 1920's. And ever since, I wanted to report about this look. So I thought: Now is the time.

This Drawing was made in 1910 by Leon Bakst, Costume designer for the "ballet Russes" in Paris during the first decades of the 20th century. This particulair drawing was for a costume of "Sheherazade" the women who told the well-known story "One thousand and one nights." Influences of the costumes for this particular play were still seen in the late 1920's.

Okay my life officially sucks! While I'm busy studying for my testweek. Milan is busy showing looks for Fashionweek. What an unfair world we live in. All I can do it is take a pause from learning, and start drooling on the latest menswear.

Om toch nog even in de 'holiday-mood' te komen hier een jas die ik tegenkwam. Het komt uit de wintercollectie van Pierre Cardin uit 1967. Toch weer een groot voorbeeld van hoe weinig de mode eigenlijk is verandert afgelopen vijftig jaar. Mode herhaalt zichzelf en deze jas van bijna een halve eeuw geleden zou makkelijk in het straatbeeld van vandaag passen. Ik vind deze look zo gaaf door de panty en de enorme bont randen. En natuurlijk vind ik de witte handschoentjes echt gewoon helemaal geweldig! Ik weet niet wat het is met handschoenen. Ze geven iets galants, iets terughoudends, misschien ook wel iets arrogants. Handschoenen schreeuwen, "hier ben ik! maar ik kijk eerst even de kat uit de boom voordat ik daadwerkelijk dingen aan durf te raken." Godweet wie hier ook z'n handen heeft gehad en godweet waar die handen geweest zijn. Misschien zijn handschoenen wel een vorm van wantrouwen, maar daarnaast toch ook wel een mega goede manier om je outfit op te pimpen. And last but not least, ze zijn gewoon ontzettend lekker warm.

Elke donderdagmorgen, sta ik vlak voor de les begint voor het lokaal te wachten en dan plingt mijn telefoon. Dat betekend twee dingen:

1. ik ben zo stom geweest mn telefoon niet op stil te zetten en dat kan ik maar beter als een razende gaan doen want als ie tijdens de les afgaat, ben ik hem mooi een week kwijt.

2. Er zijn nieuwe looks van Dior!

Ik heb namelijk de dior app op mijn Iphone en één keer per week krijg ik een update met de laatste nieuwtjes, looks en kleding van het Franse modehuis. Dior is een heel gaaf merk.  Heel vrouwelijk. Hun fotoshoots zijn vaak ook echt geweldig en het is altijd een goed begin van een lange schooldag.

Deze look kreeg ik afgelopen donderdagmorgen op mijn telefoon gestuurd. Een reclame voor de oude couture looks van Dior met hoogtepunten uit hun geschiedenis, allemaal geheel in een nieuw jasje gestoken door Patrick Demarchelier.

Ik vind het silhouhet van haar benen eigenlijk een beetje eng, maar het gehele plaatje is heel gaaf. Vooral de donkere lippen zien er supervet uit en die handschoenen maken het geheel af. Ook die make-up rond de ogen en dat hoedje. Naja eigenlijk is alles gewoon cool aan deze look. Niets ontbreekt eraan. Hij is gewoon perfect.

This week's Look isn't especially modern, it has no relations to the latest trends, whatsoever. I simply adore this image.

Deze look is al bijna vijftig jaar oud, maar het jurkje past eigenlijk helemaal in het huidige seizoen. Werken met grote vlakken in contrasterende kleuren wordt nu vrijwel overal gedaan. Hoewel de kleuren vaak fel en schreeuwerig zijn, scheppen de heldere grenzen en strakke vlakken een soort orde in de chaos. Dit jurkje van Yves-Saint-Laurent (jaja alweer Ysl, hij blijft gewoon geweldig!) is geïnspireerd op het bekende werk van Mondriaan: de rode, gele en blauwe blokjes afgewisseld met zwarte lijnen en witte vlakken. Hij heeft dit werk omgetoverd tot een geweldig stukje couture dat nu, vijftig jaar later, nogsteeds in het modebeeld past. Het jurkje is niet de originele "mondriaan-look", maar een aparte versie. Er hoorden namelijk meer jurkjes bij die collectie. Daarnaast horen de handschoenen, schoenen en het hoedje geloof ik ook niet bij het ontwerp. Toch zijn de handschoenen wel heeel gaaf, zeker omdat je kan zien dat ze twee verschillende kleuren hebben. Ze geven het geheel net wat extra elegantie.
